Chuck Higgins’s practice is focused primarily in the mining and energy sectors. Providing counsel on commercial and financial matters, he predominantly advises national investment dealers and international mining and energy companies. Chuck has considerable experience with joint ventures, acquisitions, and capital and debt transactions involving resources business.
Chuck is the editor of, and contributor to The Canadian Law of Mining published by the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. He also worked for the Federal Department of Energy, Mines and Resources as a Senior Economist. Chuck is the past chair of the Natural Resources and Energy Section of the Canadian Bar Association and was awarded that organization’s highest honour, the Distinguished Service Award.

Dan’s practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, principally in the mining sector. Providing counsel to institutional shareholders, investment funds, public and private corporations, he advises clients on negotiated acquisitions, joint ventures, and contested corporate transactions, such as proxy battles and hostile take-overs.
Dan has significant experience in corporate finance and complex regulatory matters, acting as counsel in respect of public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities, as well as advising clients on corporate governance matters and stock exchange requirements.
Dan co-authored the Canadian Proxy Contest Study – 2013 and its 2014 Update, exposing trends and issues that underpin contested transactions. Dan served as a Law Clerk to Madame Justice Louise Arbour of the Supreme Court of Canada.
Dan’s expertise has been repeatedly recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. He was recognized in IFLR1000 2016 as a rising star in mining and in IFLR1000 2017 as a rising star in mergers and acquisitions. Marty’s practice is focused primarily in the renewables and mining sectors. Providing counsel on securities, corporate, compliance, and transactional law matters for U.S. and Canadian public companies, he has extensive experience in public and private debt and equity financing, joint ventures and strategic investments.
Marty acts for forest product and other natural resource companies. His practice includes significant cross-border transactions with international Canadian and U.S. law firms and as in-house counsel, both on Bay Street and Wall Street.
Proficient in Spanish, Marty has acted on numerous transactions involving Latin American companies and jurisdictions.

Les’s practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation strategies and dispute avoidance and resolution with a particular focus on the mining, energy and infrastructure sectors. Les also has considerable experience in advising clients on trade and project related matters in Latin America.
Les has been a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocates Society, Rocky Mountain Mineral Institute, Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Les is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council for the Americas and the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce. He received a license to practice foreign law in Brazil in 1999.
