Forestry
Interest in forestry law, and forest management in Canada has increased noticeably over the last couple of years. There are many legal and government relations issues to consider when conducting business in this sector. In Ontario the Crown Forest Sustainability Act and Forestry Regulations under the Act are the starting points. Superior Court decisions on Aboriginal rights, and First Nations issues generally, must also be addressed. Finally, the influence and impacts of environmental groups need to be considered.
Pilot Law LLP can provide counseling in the forestry sector on commercial and financial matters, assist in negotiating and documenting logging agreements, timber rights, land use issues, resource ownership, and development as well as compliance and negotiating with First Nations and Governments. Our team of experts can also advise on sustainable forest management and on the acquisition, disposition, and operation of forest products companies.
Our forestry lawyers represent clients in all aspects of the forest industry and are familiar with its products, resources, legislation, and opportunities. Our services are tailored to the specific needs of our forest industry clients, who range from family-owned businesses to logging contractors, First Nations, multinational manufacturers and other stakeholders.
